Have a 2005 chev impala that caught fire and burned. Fire started around console while the car was being driven. Had been having problem with heater. Has there been any related cases with this car catching on fire before? What could have been the specific cause?

Thre have been over 80 complaints from identical vehicle owners to NHTSA , however only 2 of these were for fires and both of those were engine fires. Here is the link so you can perform additional searches yourself.
