You would need to get the Engine Number, Engine Casting Number, Transmission Number & V.I.N. Then look up & compare the Numbers. There are different Sites & Pulications for that, but research is the only way to be Sure.
The 1955 -1957 Chevrolet has a VIN Tag and a Cowl Tag. The VIN tag is located on the drivers side door jam. The Cowl Tag is located on the Firewall.

L=Los Angeles, CA
N=Norwood, OH
O=Oakland, CA
S=St. Louis, MO
T=Tarrytown, NY
The Sixth thru Eleventh Digits: Each plant used their own sequence numbers. Each plant usually started with number - 001001 for 1955 and 1956, and 100001 for 1957. This number is the car's serial number.

Body No: Assembly plant letters and body number
Trim No: Indicates upholstery color.
