Do you have the new lock cylinder? And does it look like this?

If so, you need to turn the key to the on position and depress the tab you see towards the rear of the cylinder, then pull the cylinder out. There may be a thin casting film covering the slot where you need to depress the tab, just use a very small screwdriver to braek the casting film to expose the tab.
