I have a 1994 GMC Suburban with a bad 5.7L engine and want to put a chevy rebuilt 1972 350cu engine in it. Can this be done easily?

It could be done, but the 2 engines are different generations so most of the external parts will need to be replaced. Frankly it would be a pain in the butt and very expensive. Since there are thousands of the proper type engine available, I would do that rather than make it a huge project.

Reply to Ted G.'s Post: Thank you for your answer....of course I wanted to hear that my idea was great. I've replaced engines and transmissions in the past but I'm not up to date on the newer redesigned systems with all the sensors,emission and vacuum systems that have appeared over the last 15 or so years. I have this engine with about 2000 miles on it.It came out of a 1972 Monte Carlo and I used my 1976 Monte Carlo's 400 transmission. I thought it might be a stronger engine than the redesigned 5.7 engine in the 1996 Suburban. I'm guessing it doesn't matter and would be more costly in this case. I havn't bought this Suburban yet but was researching which year suburban to put my engine in.                      Thank you ,Paul
