Hello. My 2000 Silverado(4.8L, 1500 ext cab, 4x4, Manual) sometimes has idle problems. Sometimes when I shift gears the ilde goes high(2500 to 3000 rpm), also when I tap the throttle in neutral. I have a code reader and it says no codes. No check engine light, either. At other times it runs fine. One more thing, sometimes it is hard to start after I've driven for awhile, then stop somewhere. It recently passed emissions inspection, no problem. Thanks for your help.J.P.

Monitor the 5v reference to the TPS, Gray wire, circuit #416. If the voltage is not constant, disconnect the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor and the A/C pressure sensor.
If the 5v reference is now OK, reconnect one at a time, watching the 5v reference.
If cannot catch the problem while testing, disconnect the FTP sensor, road test.
If the problem does not reoccur, replace the FTP sensor
